Fast Food is Becoming Chicken-Based

Gone are the days when beef burgers were the new craze. Chicken has become the go-to form of protein for the VAST majority of American citizens.

And fast food is changing its menu to reflect this.

Popeye’s, for example, has introduced ghost pepper wings for a limited time only:

KFC has plugged its new tortilla wraps, stuffed with chicken chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese:

Chick-fil-A recently offered a new version of its classic chicken sandwich for the first time in DECADES.

Not to mention that McDonald’s is bring back its chicken wraps from the pandemic-era AND is adding a whole HOST of new chicken items to its menu:

Fast food places are going CRAZY for chicken at the moment. And it doesn’t seem to be stopping.

Chick-fil-A even has plans to open 900 more stores by 2027 and KFC recently opened its 10,000th store in China. Crazy stuff.

Chicken is the IT-girl now

On a consumer level, chicken has quickly surpassed beef as the protein of choice for American citizens, according to CNBC and the New York Times.

And I remember reading that each American, in 2022, ate — on average — two times more chicken than 40 years ago. Mind-blowing stuff.

The question I want to ask is…why?

Why has chicken, of all the sources of protein, become the most desirable?

(And before I answer this question, I would just like to say that this is my OWN interpretation of the data, at which I have looked.)
